We’re excited to announce three new features to improve your OptionsPlay Ideas experience!
You can create and manage your own lists of stocks. By clicking the “Watchlist” link on the Trade Idea panel, you’ll toggle to where your watchlists are stored. We put a default one there for you that includes many popular stocks and indexes.
To add a symbol to the current list, type it into the symbol box and press Enter, or click the Add button. You can sort your watchlist by any of the column headers.
The Menu button is where you create new watchlists, delete the current list, or make edits to the current list.
When you select the Edit Watchlist option, the UI goes into edit mode. From here, you can reorder your list by clicking, holding, and dragging the Move button of the row to the position you want. To remove a stock, click the Delete key. Make sure to save your changes!
If you have more than one list, click the green dropdown arrow beside the current list name to change lists.
Finally, to change the name of the current watchlist, just click anywhere in the dotted line. The name will switch to edit mode. Make your edits and press Enter. The new name is automatically saved.
Pre-Opening Option Strategies
You may have noticed that strategies before the opening bell rarely had any options strategies. This is because most quote vendors zero out closing price information from the previous session. To fix this, we started caching option chain data. That means you’ll see optimal option strategies based on the closing price from the previous session before the market opens. When the current day’s session commences, the cache switches back over to delayed quotes.
Mid-Price Trade Costs
Until now, we always based a strategy’s trade cost and risk metrics against the current bid or ask price. Now we provide you with a choice to base the trade cost on the current mid price instead. On the Modify Legs slide, there’s a “Price By” dropdown besides the Strategy Constructor. Click that to toggle between the Bid/Ask or Mid for the trade.
You’ll see that pricing selection reflected in all of the risk metrics and trade ticket as well:
